About Patty Kay Hall

Patty Kay Hall Patty has been painting since she was twelve years old and had largely been self guided until she went to UCONN, Storrs where she majored in Art History and enrolled in a couple of Studio Art classes. After a twenty year hiatus to raise a family, Patty returned to her artwork with a serious fervor and passion to learn. She has studied with portrait artists Jack Montmeat and Doug Aaberg and with Judith Chapman of Old Lyme. She has also taken workshops with artists Kimberly Meuse, Stuart Dunkle, Mikel Wintermantel and Blaney Harris.

Most recently Patty won the Pam Nelson Watercolor Award for her painting Pear and Company at the "58th Regional Show" held at the Mystic Arts Center, Mystic, CT , Aug. 1, 2014. Prints are available here on Fine Art America. In addition, her painting "Ye Ole Hippie Emporium" was awarded an Honorable Mention at the Spring Bull Gallery in 2012.

Influences on Patty's art:
"I love the dynamic energy of the Baroque and the power of the Romantic periods but my favorite is the much underrated Pre-Raphaelite movement. There are so many wonderful movements, each offering their own unique beauty. The portraiture of Sargent and Sorolla, Bougereau and Tissot are all favorites. Howard Pyle and NC Wyeth are my favorite illustrators.
