The figurehead of the Viking Ship Draken, the world's largest Viking ship is on its summer tour down the East Coast. This painting is of the figure head as seen from the dock at Mystic Seaport in the springtime on a cloudless day. I have restored some of the original coloring in the reds and greens as the ship looked prior to its leaving for the journey across the ocean.
Patty is a multi-media artist who loves painting "Scenes of Life at the Shore". Having grown up near the Connecticut shore she has many happy memories of salt, sun and sand and as she's gotten older has availed herself of the great restorative properties of the sea. Patty's main goal as an artist is to create a piece or capture a scene that will elicit a "happy memory" for the viewer. So many collectors recall and share with her childhood or family memories many of her scenes and it's this that she finds most fulfilling as an artist. She especially likes a piece of architecture in a landscape and the more remote the better - like little beach shacks, a particular favorite subject matter.
