Description
Print of an original watercolor of the old Taylor's Dairy Freeze that used to be on the corner of Second Avenue and 95th Street. Taylor's was known for their milkshakes and take out food. They eventually grew to add a family style restaurant which specialized in hoagies and take out food. Run by the Taylor family, year round residents of Stone Harbor, the restaurant was next door to the family home, seen as the grayish blue house next to the restaurant. Mr. Taylor was in the Coast Guard and he and his service is memorialized with the American flag on the house. Taylor's was known for their slogan "Eat Rite 'Til Late Nite", as seen on the sign, and the big ice cream cone on top of the building. Full of angles and plate glass, the mid-century modern ice cream stand boasted the architecture of the early 1960's Americana.
