Print of an original watercolor of the old Taylor's Dairy Freeze that used to be on the corner of Second Avenue and 95th Street. Taylor's was known for their milkshakes and take out food. They eventually grew to add a family style restaurant which specialized in hoagies and take out food. Run by the Taylor family, year round residents of Stone Harbor, the restaurant was next door to the family home, seen as the grayish blue house next to the restaurant. Mr. Taylor was in the Coast Guard and he and his service is memorialized with the American flag on the house. Taylor's was known for their slogan "Eat Rite 'Til Late Nite", as seen on the sign, and the big ice cream cone on top of the building. Full of angles and plate glass, the mid-century modern ice cream stand boasted the architecture of the early 1960's Americana.
Patty is a multi-media artist who loves painting "Scenes of Life at the Shore". Having grown up near the Connecticut shore she has many happy memories of salt, sun and sand and as she's gotten older has availed herself of the great restorative properties of the sea. Patty's main goal as an artist is to create a piece or capture a scene that will elicit a "happy memory" for the viewer. So many collectors recall and share with her childhood or family memories many of her scenes and it's this that she finds most fulfilling as an artist. She especially likes a piece of architecture in a landscape and the more remote the better - like little beach shacks, a particular favorite subject matter.
